Goal

Empower prevention organizations, coalitions, and communities by advocating for prioritizing effective and evidence-based prevention programs, strategies, and initiatives.

Responsibilities

 I.          Promote Effective and Evidence-Based Prevention:

    • Advocate for increased funding for effective and evidence-based prevention programs, strategies, and initiatives.
    • Educate stakeholders on the significance of investing in prevention initiatives.
    • Host an advocacy event at the Capitol in Harrisburg.

II.          Oppose the commercialization of adult-use recreational marijuana in PA.

    • Provide informed and research-based arguments against legalization.
    • Provide opportunities for prevention professionals to advocate with local decision-makers.
    • Disseminate advocacy educational materials and talking points to the field.
    • Be aware of pending legislation around legalization and share all relevant details with the statewide members.

    III.          PA Youth Summit Development and Implementation:

    • Assist in planning and implementing CPA’s inaugural Youth Summit at the Capitol, Harrisburg.
    • Help recruit 6-8 passionate and dedicated youth coalition leaders from up to eight local community coalitions across the state to attend the Summit.

Meeting Details

Monthly on the 3rd Tuesday, from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. via Zoom.

Time Commitment

2 to 3 hours per month, including the meeting time.
